We are honoring Cambodian New Year, or Choul Chnam Thmey, which celebrates the traditional Lunar New Year as well as the end of the harvesting season when Cambodian farmers can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Part of our French Ex-Pat series, the Cambodge Soir is inspired by and collaborated with our tasting room manager, Sopheak, who is of Cambodian descent and spent time in teaching music to children in a rural part of Cambodia where his family is from.
Cambodge Soir is brewed with flaked rice, galangal, jackfruit and kaffir limes. Galangal is a wild ginger widely used in Southeast Asian cuisine that lends the beer a subtle spiciness -- balanced by the brightness of the limes and the sweet perfume of the jackfruit. A sip of the Cambodge Soir will take you through Sopheak's grandparents' farm with different aromas of ripe tropical fruits and vegetables wafting delicately from all directions. The further you go, the deeper those exotic smells and flavors draw you in.
Our food truck's staff is also of Cambodian descent. Koi and Ninja will be serving up some traditional Cambodian street food that will pair perfectly with the Cambodge Soir.
